Four house captains, Mrs Ryan and Mrs Williamson went along to the MCG to the ResourceSmart Schools awards ceremony on 5th June 2025.
We went to represent Albion Primary and also cheer on Mrs Ryan. She was nominated for the Teacher of the Year (Primary) for ResourceSmart Schools. She won! HOORAY!
There were stalls from schools and other places like the Zoo and Royal Botanic Gardens aimed at sustainability practices. They showcased what they were doing at their school/place and to give us ideas for our school.
One of the stalls had a 'guess the vegetable' feely box. There was also some free stuff that we could take to use.
We enjoyed the hot chocolate, juice and morning tea!
We were also interviewed. We had to answer why sustainability is important to us, how we work together to achieve sustainability goals, and why other schools should join ResourceSmart Schools.
It was an amazing experience and we would love to do it again.
Please give a round of applause to Mrs Ryan for helping to make this school a better, sustainable school.

Congratulations again, to Marita Ryan for driving the work we are doing at Albion to be more sustainable.
We received a letter today from our local state Member of Parliament, Sarah Connolly, congratulating Marita. A part of the letter stated '...Quite recently, I had the pleasure of being written to by two former students of the school, now attending Sunshine College, taking to heart and advocating to me those principles of sustainability and environmental awareness, a credit to their education at Albion Primary and your work at instilling the importance of sustainability in your students....'
